Bill, Trial, Hope.
Relative to all other rights, right to belief is absolute. Meaning, you can believe what ever you want (i.e. fairies, talking stones, care bears in the rainbow) without fear of repression. No one has the right to say that your belief is wrong and stops you from believing so. You own your thoughts. The limit lies when you act on that belief. While you may believe that fairies exist, you can’t go out soliciting money in exchange of granting wishes. That would be fraudulent.
So when people think that a man died, woke up after three days, went up the sky and just waiting for the right time to punish everyone, I respect that. The problem is when those same people act out their belief and shove their morality to our throats. As if they have a direct connection with God.
Thanks to the Impeachment trial, the RH Bill is now out of media attention. But it shouldn’t be. Eleven women (statistically speaking, Sen. Sotto) are dying everyday because no medical treatment is available to them. Lots of kids grow up ignorant because their parents would rather spend on food what should have been spent on education. The poor suffers because those SUV-riding bishops think that overpopulation is not a problem.
Well, it is a problem. Until we realize that no one has the monopoly of morality, we will always be enslave by the holier-than-thou clergy. Until we have learned to solve our problems rather that praying for a miracle, we will always be a third world nation. I just hope that after all this craziness about the trial, we can all go back to our campaign for the RH Bill. CJ Corona, can’t you just resign?
And yes, if it’s so important to you, you can be a good person even if you support the Bill.
